Hello house construction forum participants,
I am currently planning a complete attic conversion and am looking for clever, space-saving solutions to create storage space. In the kitchen, for example, there will be a pantry around the chimney, as no living space could be created there either.
Furthermore, there would be the possibility, for example, in the sloping areas (which would be usable from a height of 1 m), but I am quite tall and would prefer not to have to crawl into the corners for items I need repeatedly. Also, no piece of furniture can be placed in front of these areas.
Do you have any experience or solutions? I look forward to your tips. Many thanks in advance.

Hello!

That depends on the users (children?) and the use of the space. In the dressing area, clothes lifts help; in the kitchen, corner cabinets; usually, people also use the space above the room doors less often (but you have to like it).

Nice but expensive are custom cabinets in the attic/gable area.

What worries me, though: Does your fireplace not give off any warmth? Storing supplies is not ideal at 40 degrees :D.

Regards,
TomTom.

Hello HGD,

You can definitely create storage space under the sloping ceilings without having to forgo placing furniture in front of it. It is much more about where the "built-in wardrobes" can be opened. Also consider planning sliding doors and get inspired by kitchen furniture. There are many great solutions!

If you are looking for additional storage space, then also look upwards. Often in stairwells there is the possibility to install a cupboard at head height, which can then be used laterally by the room above.

Many forget, however, that there is storage space and storage space. I find it absolutely illogical how many people do not use the space under the bed / in the bed box at all, but instead construct elaborate storage options elsewhere...

Hope this helps you.

Best regards

Out of pure curiosity, I would also be interested to know what can be stored around the fireplace? Especially in the kitchen... both plastic, glass, and food will probably not be very pleased about it...
