: I will provide the picture later as I am not on site at the moment. Device: Rotex HPSU compact 508 8kw. The drip edge strip is 40cm wide, the ice stands at a minimum of 1.5m length within the strip. Gravel is Greywacke fragments 0-16mm in loose fill about 20cm high, without slope.

Update from Operating Instructions:
Condensate water:
– Since condensate flows out of the outdoor unit, a drainage bed must be constructed underneath it to allow the condensate to drain away. Do not place anything under the unit that is sensitive to moisture.
– The condensate must be able to flow freely.
– If the condensate connection is covered by a base plate or floor surface, additionally place foot bases with a height of at least 300 mm under the feet of the outdoor unit.
– Do not use a condensate hose together with the outdoor unit in cold areas. Otherwise, the water can freeze and impair the function.

In the meantime, I have taken up the fight against the ice with a pickaxe, de-icing salt, and thanks to the mild temperatures. Unfortunately, there is currently a lot of standing water, which is why I am considering laying a drainage system under the device in the spring and connecting it to the rainwater channel (leads to the own cistern).

It seems that the condensate initially spread out in liquid form on your side, stopped, and then froze. Drainage or a permeable ground could therefore help.
