I also thought for a long time, "Oh man, why didn't we realize that." But upon closer consideration, I'm quite glad that we didn't do it.
1. Washing, folding laundry, and ironing usually happen during the day, and I stay on the ground floor then. If I constantly had to run upstairs, that would be pretty annoying...
2. If the machine does run in the evening or at night, it would bother us. Especially when the washing machine spins, it gets a bit loud. During the day or watching TV in the evening, no problem. At night while sleeping, definitely disturbing.

Yes, you carry all the laundry up and down. But I think for us, it's the better option than a laundry room upstairs.

Because the kitchen fitter is already coming.

Of course, you are right about that too.

This is just a first conversation to see if we can find something suitable. (desired front, cooktop, etc.)

that's of course true - it always depends on one's own habits!

For us it's perfect like this - the laundry room is right next to the closet room and the machine is so quiet that we actually only hear it when it beeps at the end of the program (and that could be turned off).
So it can run there at night and when I get up I can hang up the laundry right away.

It’s the same with us, they’re not that loud anymore nowadays. And running it at night only happens in "emergencies," like when the child has an "accident" at night for example. And what would really bother me is carrying it upstairs.
But I don’t iron either, so the effort with the laundry is fairly limited in terms of time.

That way every child can pick up their baskets from the laundry room themselves when they’re done and also bring the laundry into the room. No risk of falling on the stairs with "cargo" (but I’m also someone who’s been burned before).
