That cutting (deciduous) trees in winter is better has nothing to do with "green lunatics" for once. And why shouldn't you want to fell large trees? That’s when it really gets interesting! I’m already looking forward to the 30m spruce on my property that has to go this October... On the topic: With oaks, the danger of falling branches is relatively low, even if it is deadwood. Besides, it is easy to recognize and can be easily cut out.The problem is, the trees grow to the sky, nobody cuts down trees anymore, whether sick or healthy. With every storm event there are problems, trees fall over. Here in the countryside we now have 40 m tall poplars, huge oaks and beeches that no one wants to cut down anymore because they are way too big. From March to September you are not allowed to cut or fell anything. That can only be done in winter during bad weather. Bureaucracy paralyzes everything here. You cannot save every tree, cannot let every branch grow just because a few green lunatics would like that.
