With wood this thick, you obviously need really fat screws. In the end, the Udden things don’t have a wall connection anyway, but rather the attached metal strip. What’s the problem if the wood warps a little.

Hello! Thank you very much for your answers!

Ikea expert:
I also thought of a squared timber (not of any potential warping; in my youthful recklessness I thought it would be at a perfect right angle and would stay that way), but if I have to force it to the wall with thick screws, I can’t place Udden in front of it, can I?

I think the groove idea is great.
You mean it could work like this: the countertop rests on the countertop of Udden and the low finishing strip of Udden disappears in there?
Then the board would have to be pretty thick, right?
How could one avoid a corner forming where dirt collects? A "normal" kitchen finishing strip?
Silicone? -> does that hold on the steel?

This is what the used one looks like:

However, my water connection is about 1m away from the wall. So where the drain is now.
Is there maybe some kind of metal cover to screw onto the hole?

Udden does not have such a thin sheet metal seam at the back as is known from undermount sinks.

Maybe I did not understand the groove correctly. If the sheet metal at the back is about 4 cm high and one centimeter thick, then it must be a wide and very deep groove in a really thick plate in order to be able to fit it on.

I did not actually intend with the groove suggestion to completely cover the rear sheet metal. The groove maybe 1 cm deep, so that the sheet metal remains as the rear edge of the countertop.

Unfortunately, I do not really know the Udden system, only from the pictures. As I have now seen, the sheet metal is screwed on. So you could also remove this sheet metal and mount a strip of board with brackets so that this strip rests a little on the countertop. Sealing with silicone will, to my knowledge, have no prospect of lasting success due to the stainless steel. However, there are various sealing tapes or sealing lips made of silicone that could be used there.
