It's an older thread, but I'll still give my two cents! If it's about advice, you can also get that at a locksmith. I ordered such a security check myself and after making inquiries, I decided to secure the windows and doors additionally with mushroom-head locks. On the front door, a 5-point bolt lock and possibly an alarm system, but I still have to think about that carefully.
You are completely right.
There are plenty of companies specialized in such things – whether locksmiths or security firms.
Police advice is especially interesting to us because there is no interest in selling anything here.
Generally, you try to get an objective picture with every consultation.
This is often not quite guaranteed with companies that earn money from selling products, no matter if it’s in the security sector, heating technology, or other industries. Even the baker’s wife recommends her products to sell them to you.
The advantage of advice from a company is of course that the company can usually present the right solution (product) to you immediately.
To be clear – advice from companies (across industries) is also an option.
But for me, the objectivity was the decisive advantage of advice by the police.
