Hello everyone,

I have the following problem:

We are currently planning the renovation/refurbishment of all the windows of our old building, but we want to make our windows as burglar-proof as possible (due to a break-in). Do you maybe have some tips or reliable companies that specialize in this? So far, we have not found any reliable companies.

Thank you very much in advance!

Manuel

Hello Manuel,

What you mean are RC II windows, formerly WK II. Go to the police website, there you will find reliable companies that offer certified windows.

Who can advise you on that is the police. At least where we are, there are regular seminars on burglary protection. What you are probably looking for are WK5 windows. But from experience I can report: they are expensive and only help to a limited extent. If someone wants to get in, they will get in. I have worked as a locksmith and have pried open various windows. Everything up to WK4 can be opened with a crowbar... some faster, some slower. Apparently, spontaneous burglars do not break in when they encounter resistance, so a WK3 window would be sufficient. I prefer roller shutters with anti-lift protection or lamps with motion sensors that can be turned on while you are away. No burglar will pry open a window in full lighting. I cannot and may not name specific companies here.

No window is burglar-proof, but there are windows that make burglaries significantly more difficult.
With us (I myself am with the police) there is a prevention "Muggle" you can call if needed. He comes to the house, also looks at other exits besides the windows, and gives advice.
In every larger inspection, headquarters or similar (varying from country to country) there is someone from prevention for the protection of property.

Hello Der Da,

That's only partially true ...

... at our place they tried to break in through the front door in broad daylight ...

For exactly this reason, we recommend our customers to focus on RC 1 N and the front door, which does not quite correspond to the former WK II, but greatly hinders access to the inner values of a house and is by far not as expensive as certified RC II (formerly WK II).

And by the way, one thing I have learned from our "experience" ... opportunity makes thieves, whether with or without full lighting ... no lifting protection on roller shutters helps there either. In broad daylight, every burglar gladly pretends to be a craftsman :-(

Best regards from the Rhineland

I have experienced something similar. Some burglars nowadays also show up with heavy equipment!
