....was just about to say that too. Or.....with our former house we installed a used kitchen; these are available in many varieties, at TOP prices and from manufacturers you could hardly afford otherwise. Add a bit of imagination in the design and you already have top quality and individuality for little money, which you hardly get otherwise in the general mainstream area. And.....the bank can go to hell-

Update. Only the Allianz has a problem with the kitchen. ING does not. There are now new....

Off to the next one, if you don't want to, tough luck.

regarding withholding equity: You have to read the contract carefully! For example, I misinterpreted a sentence in my contract that states I have to spend my entire equity (and prove it) before I am allowed to touch even 1 cent of the loan! So you cannot declare an equity of 100,000,- and only spend 80,000,-, then use up the loan in between, and finally spend the remaining 20,000,- of equity on the kitchen. With me, definitely 20,000,- of the loan remains. I asked the bank to pay me this out so that I can finally start repaying. Before that happens, they send an appraiser who inspects the house and precisely documents whether the equipment and construction are exactly as specified.

Yes, it is clear with the rule that the equity must be used up first. The note here was meant the other way around. Namely, 100k available but only 80k declared. So there is room for the kitchen, etc. The surveyor is also known to me and understandable since the bank wants to know if what was stated was actually done and not just a shack is there.

which, however, does mean that you take out more credit and pay interest on it...
