Building without a contract - Concerns?

Hello, we have chosen a regional construction company. They have also completed the planning for the building application and submitted it. The deadline for the building permit is approaching soon. Then the construction should start. The construction company is handling the entire build.

The company has an impeccable reputation and has been on the market for a long time. We also have a recommendation from a good friend. The boss drove us through the town and showed us his houses (also from the inside). Some of them are over 20 years old. We liked the quality. What does surprise us a bit, however, is that no signatures are required. They practically build without a contract. That was also confirmed by the good friend. It was the same way for him. Therefore, we are not really worried.. On the contrary... Somehow it’s pleasant not to be pushy about signatures. We had providers like that too. More or less: if you don’t sign within the next 14 days, it will be 5% more expensive. That was a dealbreaker for us. I really can’t stand that!
