Building in the early 50s

I am building again now at 50. Only 3 rooms, high ceilings, wide doors, no basement, and nicely spacious ....

There will be a highlight. A raised bed running on a rail system that will drive right up to the kitchen. That will blow her away.

... And that at a time when you should make every trip twice ...

Do you need a rail system in your garden?

Hello We are just under and have dared the adventure once again. Our children, the older one is still with us due to university (however, he has his own apartment in the basement), the younger one is no longer at home due to professional reasons. However, she still has a room for visits. Why we dared it again, the quality of life at our old house has deteriorated significantly over the last 10 years (due to the adjacent commercial area), 24-hour continuous noise. Would we do it again? Definitely yes although we will not be finished for quite some time. Friends of ours at the same age have also dared the step once again. Recently I met another acquaintance who is currently also building anew, both over 50. So what speaks against daring a fresh start once again. Just courage

Do you need a rail system in your garden?

Absolutely. It is a gift from the elder. It runs along the garden wall and follows the position of the sun.

Steffi and I did it at 49 and 46 (as of 2014).

This is our first house.

Reasons: I had already listed them here a long time ago: No more landlord.
This goal was achieved and the quality of life has - after the biggest stress was over (shell construction, the building time was not so fun) - massively increased compared to before. Well, until the terror in 2013 with that landlord the quality of life was also okay/good, but now: 1.0, that is really very great, such a small house for yourself. The icing on the cake is the comprehensively good neighborhood here. Number of unpleasant people = 0.0. Unbelievable. Only nice, friendly, and warm-hearted people.

Even if it costs a few euros more than the apartment used to: It was worth it.

Neighbors opposite: Built at 59 and 58 (2015). Out of the city center, into a similarly small house like ours. Also their first house in life.

So to speak: Needs-adapted, detached condominium replacement with garden.

I know here in the building area (13 detached single-family houses (of which 3 are still to be built) and about 45 terraced/semi-detached houses) two more with over 50, but the rest are then massively rather over 30 or over 40.

PS: We did not install the rail system for beds and food. It was too expensive for us back then. Currently, the price is dropping: high demand because so many people over 50 are building. Such systems have finally lost their expert and exotic status and have become a normal product. :p:rolleyes:

We have our Minna instead.
Minna costs nothing.
She works 100%.
When I say, Minna do this or that or don’t do it, she does it, or not.
