We wanted that at first too. But no one could provide us with a floor plan tailored to us. 150 sqm penthouse, of which 15 sqm is kitchen, and 450,000. No thanks

If I were over 50, I would first and foremost make sure that my children have at least the same opportunities as I did. If there is still something left and the family is doing well and I believe that I am resilient enough for it, then there is nothing against it.

From what age of the child are you talking? I don't want my parents to give up something so that I can get a piece of the family pie. Twenty years ago, I had the same attitude... I can manage myself :)

Hello,

If you haven’t already arranged that by the time you’re over 50 – unless you conceived your children after 40 – it’s a bit late ;)

You can see it that way; many parents surely share this attitude.

I am more of the opinion that, at some point, children _also_ have to learn to "swim." Just because I am a mother doesn’t mean I stop being my private "self" on the day of birth. At some point, there _has_ to be time for my own needs again. And if I don’t just squander my property, my children will benefit from it one way or another anyway. From my point of view, it is by no means reprehensible if parents sell their property and "live" off the proceeds ;)

Rhenish regards

I am also happy to expand Epis' statement with the reminder that you plan your retirement for yourself and not for your children. Retirement planning naturally also includes the property you build for yourself when over 50. The times when you inherited your family home for the growing children, as was done in the past (extended family, agricultural estate, etc.), are definitely over in urban areas, because the growing child who is already "starting a family" themselves no longer wants the old, outdated house.
