Is the mega-stand-up-collar attica really so crucial to the beauty of the whole complex for all parts of the building? Platform shoes and bell-bottoms have, after all, only been in fashion twice for a few years each (and shoulder pads even only once)...

To be honest, I’m quite indifferent about it, but the architect told me that we don’t have much leeway because proper sealing has to be ensured. I don’t know how many centimeters are needed for that. She’ll have to plan that then.

First of all, there is no mega high attic to be seen, but a quite ordinary one. Secondly, it actually serves beauty, e.g. in the form of proportions on the facade, and it can take objects on the roof out of sight when viewed from below. There are also very practical reasons, as a slope for drainage must also be realized.

That should be less of a problem with the shed roof.

That is probably true. However, solving the present problem with a shed roof is quite crazy, it doesn’t fit the object at all. And it was about the purpose of a (supposedly high) parapet.

Hello everyone,

so, the building authority does not consider registering an easement for the extension obligation as an option. It would be a new development area, and therefore we do not have to build like that. If there were already a neighboring garage at the boundary, it wouldn't be an issue, but the neighbor still has to build... Also, we were told that building the garages wall to wall would no longer be a (required by the development plan) open type of construction (our architect does not share this assessment, as there are apparently court rulings that garages do not affect the open type of construction since they are only ancillary buildings).

I also don’t really like the look of the shed roof, but it currently seems to be the only solution to get a double garage on the eastern side.

Does anyone else have any other ideas?

Thank you very much!
