Honest answer, no. It has several disadvantages and the biggest one is: It is more expensive than KNX! Considering what always happens when people here on the forum discuss KNX and the prices and how that is already too expensive for most. The inevitable question arises...Why does F&H even still exist and hasn’t been discontinued long ago or is at least 50% (or even more) cheaper.

Ok How can we sensibly retrofit knx if the electrician installs the electrical system conventionally and lays the bus cable along with it How can knx then be retrofitted?

Well, in theory, you could also work with KNX flush-mounted actuators. Disadvantages: - Price per channel: For example, with the MDT blind actuator, €75 for one instead of ~€32; if you have 10 blinds, that’s already a €400 surcharge just for hardware without installation (disclaimer again: only retail prices for illustration!). - You have those things installed somewhere in a box instead of in the control cabinet. - And you have laid electrical cables where you don’t need them... And then people always say KNX is so expensive

For someone who doesn't know at all what they want, why and for what, every cent spent on a system is money thrown away...

Yes, I wanted to have it central, but the electrician doesn’t want that. Maybe the star wiring is too much effort for him and that’s why he refuses or would charge exorbitant prices for it. He sold it to us like it’s not a problem for him to lay the bus cable as well, and that way you would be maximally flexible and could later easily replace it yourself and install F@H. We roughly know what we want. We just don’t know how to implement it best. We want to make the following things smart. - Roller shutter control with automatic shading and astro function - Window sensors for lockout protection of the roller shutters or to put the roller shutters in ventilation position (preferably invisible but reed contacts are not possible) - Light control and scenes via app or voice control or at the switch - Be able to switch a few sockets, e.g. for the lighting on the living room wall or floor lamp - And possibly work with a few motion detectors in the hallway and staircase. - Weather station for automatic shading or lowering roller shutters in heavy rain Now we just don’t know how to go about it. Should we just have the bus cable laid along with the conventional electrical wiring to be able to retrofit KNX ourselves later? Or should we simply rely on a wireless system? E.g. Matter Matter looked and looks quite promising to me, since apparently all manufacturers are jumping on the bandwagon, even Fritzbox with DECT With Thread you then have a self-healing mesh wireless system

Do you have [Raffstore] or roller shutters?

With simple roller shutters, there’s not much you can do.

And if [Reeds] don’t work, you’re using radio control anyway, right?

Controlling some lights works via [hues].
