My question is whether we should wait to move in until the child is born because I once read that if you are registered in the new house and then the child is born, you no longer receive the [Baukindergeld], right?

See everything at the KFW.

I don't understand why people prefer to read such things second-hand from an anonymous forum user instead of consulting the official documents.

Quick question on the side, is the wage tax certificate from the employer sufficient for the application or does it have to be the income tax certificate from the tax office?

For that, I have to have done the tax return, right?

Of course. The taxable income is stated on the tax assessment notice. This is used to check the income limits. Application in 2019 requires tax assessment notices 2017/2016.
