…except someone goes to the toilet while you’re showering.

Well then: off you go to save

But I actually assumed individual knobs for cold and hot. They still exist, like the simple mixer.

Ideal Standard is also a more affordable brand with good value for money and isn't just boringly standard. There isn’t much selection though - still, worth a look.

Possibly faucets, mirrors, and lights as DIY.

Are you going to a bathroom showroom? Our general contractor no longer goes there by default. Too many bathrooms that were re-specified in a budget-saving variation after the initial selection.
Bathrooms need something from a Nordlys mindset. The same water comes out of a faucet for 60 euros as from the rain-turbo-massage-shower. It doesn’t clean worse or better.

I would think in advance about how much luxury I want to allow the bathrooms and what is necessary. Do you need a freestanding bathtub with whirlpool function for 2 people if you shower and the tub is only going in so the house has one?

With long hair, the rain shower may be weak; it splashes in width (but at a high flow rate!), but rinses out foam poorly.

Therefore, it is advisable to have a second standard hose shower next to it in reserve.

Otherwise:
GU plumbing prices = about double the usual internet prices. Freestanding BaWa fixtures are sometimes listed at 2k. They are more expensive than the BaWa itself.
10-15k go quickly. Meanwhile, the bathroom has already been paid for in the standard...

Don't take on too much! In other words: be satisfied if you manage to choose the ceramics in one day and look at things like the toilet paper holder and so on in a separate appointment, if that is possible.

If you want to organize furniture yourself, this could possibly speak against purely above-counter basins. We took above-counter basins for wall mounting, which were installed by the plumber, and the base cabinet came six months later, when we again had the leisure to deal with design, craftsmen, and decisions.

My wife wants to choose.... Tips so that it doesn’t get out of hand... that bothered me, how do you portray your wife to us! As a luxury female who chooses and doesn’t ask about the price, the husband will pay anyway. Wouldn’t it be more honest if both agreed on a budget through dialogue before sampling what it’s allowed to cost, and then see how far you get? Nearly everything in the bathroom area is overpriced unless you go to Ikea. If you like something there and book the assembly service, you still get a fair deal. Wasserhähne Ideal are good. Duravit D Code is a nice and inexpensive porcelain series. Tiles 60 by 30, no larger. My wife needs thermostats, dense brown hair, and I don’t. We bought the small stuff from Amazon, from Grohe, hooks, roll holders etc. Saves a lot. They wanted to sell us toilet seats that close softly with silicone dampers. What nonsense. Every person can surely close the lid without it breaking! K.
