Hello,

in our basement there is just screed in one room. I would like to tile the floor - not because I need to, but because I want to practice tiling.

There is no heating in the room and also, there shouldn’t be any pipes in the floor itself.

Do you see any problem with me tiling the floor? Like, for example, that it might somehow breathe worse - risk of mold or something else? I would assume there are no problems, but better safe than sorry ;)

Thanks and best regards

I only see the problem that you might mess it up ;). Otherwise, of course, everything is doable without any problems. Find yourself a leveling system for tiles (just google it), good adhesive, and then get to the fun. P.S. I just looked at my floor – it’s dead as a doornail both with and without tiles and doesn’t breathe at all :p

Can I load tiles that have not yet been grouted 100% (after the adhesive has of course completely dried)?

I am now going to tile my second room (laundry room) and would like to place the washing machine on the freshly laid tiles halfway through the installation due to lack of space, before everything is grouted together.

Does anyone have experience with this? Is there anything to consider?

If they are properly glued, I think so. But why don’t you grout the spot where the machine will go first? If the machine is still standing further in the room, you can’t grout continuously anyway, but have to move it away in between.
