Hello,

maybe one of you still has an ultimate combination or idea that I haven't come up with. I want to fit the following into this nearly 20sqm basement room without it meaning slalom running or squeezing through.

- A desk (currently still 200cm wide, but can be shortened to 160cm, 100cm deep + chair) for office work
- A table/worktop for crafting (about 100cm x 50 or larger, also gladly in a lengthwise combination or as a corner variant with the desk)
- a fitness machine, which requires about 180cm depth x 260 width to use all functions. Also gladly with a planned mirror through the back wall or side.
- a cardio machine (120 cm x 60 cm)

The windows start at a height of 40cm, are triple glazed, and cannot be opened. Window sills were intended as seating options. The large window front is a sliding door, which can be opened on the side near the apartment door. The ceiling height is relatively low at 210cm.

Regards maxpd

Sorry, but I think with more than your cardio and fitness equipment the room will be too crowded

What kind of cardio machine? Cross/elliptical trainer will be difficult with the ceiling height. When it comes to the furniture, you will have to ignore the windows, that much is certain.

I share that concern. I just thought there might still be an inventive room designer here :D I have also already considered converting a window seat into a table, a fold-out variant or maybe even lowering something from the ceiling :D :D

More in the direction of an elliptical trainer, yes. I'm 1.72m not that tall, so it should just barely work. I have also thought about placing the tower in front of the front window. The back panel can be dismantled and the frame braces are only a little narrower than the windows.

Watch out when choosing the model. It’s going to be very tight. You’re already standing elevated on the device, and with the movement your body goes even higher. "Just barely enough" is by the way not sufficient either, because when using it you constantly feel like you’re about to hit the ceiling.

As someone who also started with a home gym/office hybrid: don't do it, either one or the other. If you are going to use the home gym with a rack somewhat seriously, it won’t stop at just the rack. Very quickly, a flat bench, an incline bench, an Olympic barbell + plates, dumbbells, bedroom bar, various cable handles, hyperextension (recently at L*** for an outrageous €35 delivered to your door, you HAVE to buy it) will join in... In short, gym or office, one of the two will be neglected, and it would be a shame for the investment if it’s the gym.
