Hello

It is about creating more communal space where meetings and assemblies can be held. One option would be to convert the basement. I think basement rooms are not really suitable for rooms of this purpose, or what is your view? The basement is mainly below ground level. What usage possibilities would you assign to a basement, or a floor below ground level?
Thank you very much for the advice

Hello,
Rooms below ground level can be used for a variety of purposes, including for human occupancy.
However, the corresponding rooms must be able to "respond" to the usage; this means, for example, for a meeting room, that the occupants increase the CO2 levels and humidity in the room. The room itself must be able to supply the occupants with breathable air. In this case, a ventilation system well adapted to the purpose would be required.
Of course, heating and good lighting must be provided.

The most important thing for rooms below ground level, however, are rescue and escape routes that enable the occupants to safely flee outside, for example, in the event of a fire. The rescue of injured persons must also be possible.

With a building law-compliant escape route, ventilation and exhaust air adapted to the usage, suitable lighting, and heating, a cellar room can be used for many purposes. However, a usable and safe change of use must be planned by a professional – an architect.

I think a lot can be done in the basement. I know many people who use the basement. Like as a bar room, as a guest room, fitness room, sauna, etc. Of course, the structural regulations must also be implemented as in a living space, because the basement is that as well.

Hello,

So for a room where several people are supposed to fit, the second escape route is important. Additionally, sufficient lighting and ventilation are necessary. A separate toilet is also recommended. Of course, heating is required in winter. Some renovation work is necessary here.

We have also converted a basement into a consultation room. My wife is self-employed and holds small sessions there. The most important thing is a second emergency exit, and that is already complicated because the basement is located below. So a second staircase had to be installed.

In addition, separate toilets as well as heating and ventilation. I think it is quite a big effort.

I don't know if a basement like that is suitable as a consultation room. Especially the safety precautions must be observed and implemented. I think that involves a significant financial expense.

Maybe there are other options that are not as costly.
