We do not need a vertical awning. Where we sit, there is no glare even with the setting sun if we install one or two awnings across the entire width. At the moment, I am considering whether I should get an offer from Weinor. With two awnings, the choice of manufacturers becomes larger again. At 9.4m, we were somewhat limited. However, I still wonder what the differences between the manufacturers are... Among the "good" manufacturers, Markilux, Weinor, Warema, and also Klaiber are always mentioned. The alternative from Weinor would be the "Kubata". I also quite like the look of the Markilux MX-1 Compact. However, two side by side would look strange.

If your terrace faces south, for example, with a projection of 4m at 2 p.m. you cannot sit in the shade underneath, you should consider that beforehand; this is not about the evening sun at all. On Markilux's website, you can have the shadow projection displayed based on your data (length and width of the awning, installation height, tilt angle, direction).

Best regards Sabine

Thanks for following up and the tip.
I entered this on their site. Here are the key data:
Width: 700cm (the site doesn’t allow more)
Projection: 400cm
Mounting height: 260cm
Inclination angle: 12°
Orientation: South

If I’m not mistaken, with the inclination angle I should still have a clearance height of 180cm and the awning fully extended would cover 390cm of the terrace.
According to Markilux, the minimum shade in mid-summer on 01.08.2020 at 11-12 am would look like this:

Since the ground floor ceiling in the seating area extends 110cm, we would have roughly ~4m of shaded area where we could sit.
Is that correct? Then we might have to consider adding a valance after all. That would allow us to get a bit more out of it. Here with a 50cm valance:

Doesn’t make much difference and will probably be significantly more expensive...

Another idea: It became clear to me that three awnings would not look good after you uploaded a photo of the house facade. Please don't laugh, but how about four awnings? That is an even number, so it fits better. You haven't commented on the colors yet, but four awnings in, for example, different shades of gray and possibly white or similar can look elegant. (I myself don't appreciate the color gray, but I know it is currently in fashion.)

What I am still thinking about is whether and how the different design of the glass openings in the two halves of the facade can be received or broken up. But there are many commentators here in the forum who know more about design.

As I said, I can’t connect more than two awnings. They must be connected directly to my KNX bus system and there aren’t enough cables there.

So, I have another appointment next week regarding a [Weinor Markise]. After that, we will hopefully make a final decision.
