Attach a flap to Ikea Besta frame

Hello everyone,

I wanted to install a flap instead of the doors on a Besta cabinet for a lowboard. Can I screw the hinges to the bottom panel (in the middle of the respective compartment) instead of the side walls, or is the panel hollow in the edge area as well? For this, the base panel of the cabinet would at least need to have a solid frame (chipboard). Maybe someone knows how the base panel is constructed or has done something similar before.

unfortunately this is only my alternative if it doesn't work, because I actually wanted to install brake elements on the sides. And I believe the folding fitting from Ikea is not damped or there is no damping element for it.

Theoretically, you could also attach these dampers at the top, but that doesn't make any sense. You close the flap from bottom to top, against gravity. Or do you want to throw the flap upwards with momentum and then damp it? The dampers dampen the weight that falls WITH gravity, in your case gravity pulls in the opposite direction. Hmm, does the hinge of the kitchen wall cabinet also work from top to bottom? No idea.

To prevent rattling, you could stick a thin felt strip on.

Thanks first of all for your effort.
The flap should slowly open downwards and stop at about 90 degrees. For this, there are so-called brake flap holders that need to be mounted on the side of the flap. That’s actually not a problem, I just don’t know if the hinges will hold on the base plate. I don’t want to just try it out like that and risk tearing the plate, so I’d rather take the flap holders from Ikea.
