Are these costs still normal even in these times?

... and also everyone ... when prices etc. are thrown out here, they only make sense for a somewhat meaningful comparison if you include the year and the size of the property. Otherwise, it’s just throwing around random amounts.

Have you seen that the wood prices have dropped significantly in the last few weeks? There are a few reports about this on the internet.

Sure! Since the carpenter increased his offer by exactly 50%, I’ve been obsessing over the [Holzpreis] every day.

The [Holzpreis] has dropped dramatically. The problem is: that is the commodity exchange in Chicago and cannot be directly applied 1:1 to the local [Holzmarkt] - which I unfortunately don’t understand much about. If you read articles, opinions, reports, many say that prices here in the country will gradually fall again. Therefore, I hope to get back to the original price of €103,000. The only question is: when and how long do I have to wait? Some see relief around autumn, others only in 2022. The problem is that we have already started and the parents-in-law living on the ground floor otherwise have no heating for the winter (it has already been removed). Hmm...

and it’s no use if the chosen equipment standards are not mentioned. I can spend 4.50 or 45 euros for a socket from the hardware store or Busch-Jaeger stuff. We only have a few LAN sockets, nothing dimmable or otherwise digital, but all the covers are made of porcelain to match the old house. That way, you can also end up at 18,000 euros for the electrician, even with simple technology.

I find comparison difficult.... How much do comparable renovated existing houses cost with you?

That would be a benchmark for me.

What other alternative do you have besides renovation?

I think the costs are somewhat realistic. Last year we built a 50 sqm wooden extension attached to our existing building and had similar costs. Architect fees are also okay if he does his job properly. Architects who plan and oversee a house build for 6k cannot survive long (at 60€ hourly rate that would be 100 hours, so about 2.5 weeks of work. Not much can come out of that)
