Thanks [emoji16] I take comfort in my brother. He fed himself for the first 15 years on salami bread, Nutella sandwiches, and pasta. Now he is more than a head taller than me.

And exactly from the beautiful memory of my grandpa, who had a greenhouse, I now have one too. I hardly spent any time there with him, but secretly I looked at his house and the plants there. I liked the beds with the paths between them and the green that peeked out from the piled-up beds...

There are always excuses ;)

A raised bed actually fits in every garden and hardly takes up any space. I planted two squares of one square meter each for the first 4 years. That’s enough. Additionally, in perennial beds chives for the quark and mint for the mojito. I once grew herbs for the Frankfurt green sauce because you don’t really get them here... oh yes, the rosemary for cooking must not be missing either :)

Everything has its time. You can start small and grow. The children have fun, we have organic products and a bit of training [emoji1594]‍♀️ [emoji1320]

Ours is a Juliana greenhouse. We ordered it from gartenxxl, there was a 10% promotion in August/September and a foundation frame included. It also comes with real glass; we deliberately chose 10mm hollow chamber.

Wait a few more weeks. Then he’ll look at your beans and tomatoes full of envy. Then I would invite him to the harvest and encourage him to copy you. In no time, you’ll have started a trend and the turf lawns will be dug up again. ;)

I supplied our neighbors with arugula for an entire season... but it was delicious too [emoji39]

But you shouldn't calculate 10 years for how much the vegetables then cost with such a purchase, right?

No, although arugula, like many other things, grows in normal soil and is satisfied with rain.
Arugula comes back every year, mint and chives also without any effort.
Only the greenhouse, but it is a design element in the garden, which can be very well viewed from every side. It is an eye-catcher that probably overall is still cheaper than extra wind protection, garden box, etc.
Or are you including the land value? [emoji1]
We didn't buy that separately; it is included with our property [emoji6]
I don’t include water costs and hourly wages when I have a hobby, otherwise I wouldn’t be allowed to cook but always have to eat out. At an hourly rate of 40€, that actually turns out to be cheaper for me.
When calculating, everyone should also reconsider their expensive Bora ventilation, their TM or other costly gadgets and their gas grill as well [emoji6]

For me, the last harvest from the greenhouse was downright comfortable: I rarely had to go to the supermarket to get cucumbers and tomatoes.
