Before the meeting with the architect, we wrote down everything we wanted. The rest came about from his questions to us, sketches he had made, and generally from the dialogue.
We had a floor plan on hand from the catalog that we liked. However, we then described very precisely how we envisioned the furnishings and where we needed storage space. For example, we had a 1.0x2.38x0.40 meter cabinet for shoes in the apartment, which we wanted to keep. We have now boxed it in the hallway... from this, our pantry etc. emerged on the back side...
Although we had already thought about it and drawn floor plans in advance, in the end, we left it to the professional to put it on paper. Our type house has now been heavily changed on the ground floor, and we have already been asked three times whether interested customers may be sent over to look at these constructions. I think the provider has now included this floor plan in their standard proposals, as it carries quite a bit of additional cost potential. We were happy to pay the extra charge and received a suitable floor plan in return:
What was important to us for our build without a basement:
Utility room large enough for washing machine and dryer and freezer + all house technology,
Shower in the guest WC on the ground floor,
Guest room with at least 10 sqm,
Kitchen with pantry,
Cabinet in the hallway,
Covered entrance,
Two equally sized children's rooms,
Large bedroom with plenty of storage options.
Such considerations should be made in advance, and if special things like a waterbed or sauna are planned, such things should already be mentioned.
