Because a water connection is not necessary in times of modern technology and we, that is the main reason, want to remain flexible in the location of the refrigerator.

Thank you for the answer.
And you don't find refilling the tank tedious/annoying?
How often do you refill?

Regards

No - not really. It’s a (I believe) 5 l tank, which I usually only fill halfway. That way, the water stays fresh even if we drink little sometimes. For me, it’s usually not tedious/annoying. Not for my wife either, because she usually doesn’t refill it. It’s only annoying if others empty it and don’t refill it. How often to refill: Depends entirely on the outside temperatures and usage. On warm days once. If a lot of ice is needed, possibly twice (the construction workers who built our outdoor facilities were quite enthusiastic about ice-cold drinks at what felt like 50 degrees in the sun).

That's funny. I love things like that. The water was created quite a long time ago and is not produced for withdrawal at the tap.

If I assume that the storage container is disinfected from time to time, then even with the slow withdrawal of a fully filled container, it should not taste "old" but fresh.

But I might be wrong ... am I overlooking something?

Hmm - yes - seen that way.
Now I could bring up the argument with the "standing water," but I don’t think anyone will believe me that the water has been in there that long.

We also have a side-by-side with an ice maker with a water tank. I LOVE the ice cube function, but I hardly ever drink the water - although I do drink tap water quite often. The pump on my LG roars so loudly and this thin stream that dribbles in there.. it’s not even cold. I’d rather get ice first and then fill the glass under the tap. And just for the ice, the 5 liters also last quite a while.
