Without being able to check the calculation behind it:

They themselves come to the conclusion that with a classic split system you must have at least 12 m distance in order to get below 35 dB(A).
And 12 m distance to the next neighbor is likely to be significantly less in many residential areas. Then the only answer can be: heating completely off!

I am just glad that our neighbors either have gas heating or ground source heat pumps...

Best regards,

Andreas

so at night it is about 48 db loud, I already secretly measured it with an app.... it's only like that in winter, in summer she hardly works (understandably). how is night defined? until 6 in the morning?

First of all, almost never purely residential areas are designated, but almost always general residential areas. Therefore 40 dB at night and 55 during the day.

Secondly, for example, with a Rotex hpsu compact with 8 kW, I already achieve compliance with the TA Lärm from 2 meters away? And that is nothing special, right?

Thirdly: App is not accurate? And where were the 48 dB measured? Distance?

Usually, the night is considered the period from 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM.

The measurement with an app initially provides a reference point, but no real statement. It usually lacks calibration and correction for background noise.

Noise measurements are quite tricky and often lead to discussions even in our industrial projects.

Where did you measure? At 1 meter distance from the device (then with 48 dB(a) you would be much too loud for my taste but still within the legal limit) or on the neighbor's terrace (then you would have to turn off the system IMMEDIATELY)?

Best regards,

Andreas

right... there is background noise... highway nearby...

1 meter FROM the neighbor's house to us

Hi,
we live in a purely residential area. I chose a split unit from Alpha Innotec. There are loads of them around here.

Sound power level during daytime operation an astonishing 65 dB(A), not much better at night with 61 dB(A) !!!!

And then you still have 35 dB(A) at 12 m distance. To possibly still be able to sleep with the window open, your hearing must already be pretty bad!

Btw: how is it actually prevented that they run in daytime mode at night? If they don’t have a tamper-proof circuit that prevents this, you basically have to apply the daytime level at night as well. Then it looks even worse, then you are beyond 30 m!

Oops, wait, I just saw that they unfortunately fake the curves on their homepage, the noise levels are shifted!!!!:

The above-mentioned unit has 65 dB(A) in daytime mode, and the noise curve during the day also obediently starts at 65. In night mode, the unit has 61 dB(A), but surprisingly the noise curve does not start at 61 but at 56 dB(A). What a coincidence...

So correction, to comply with around 35 dB(A) in night mode you need about 22 m distance for this unit. Even for 40 dB(A) you still need 12-14 m. That requires quite large plots!

Best regards,

Andreas
