Additional costs after building the house

Hello, now I have a question as well. I always read about up to 500 euros in additional costs per month after building a house.

Why is it so high? Maybe new items like insurance are added, but proportional additional costs are also paid in a rental apartment, right?

Or am I missing something else? Thank you very much ☺️

Electricity, gas, water, sewage, garbage, internet/phone, insurance, property tax, and not to forget reserves. The reserves are of course not included in the additional costs for a rental apartment, but are calculated into the rent. For us, this is about 200€ per month, for example. Additionally, consumption is generally higher in 130sqm+ than in a rental apartment with 60-70sqm. 500€ is relatively high, but quite acceptable.

Alright, I wouldn't have included reserves in the definition of additional costs, but that would of course explain the frequently mentioned high amounts here. Thank you!

Otherwise, I cannot explain the amount either. At least not for a normal single-family house.

It certainly depends on the area. In the south, you quickly reach 2,500€ property tax per year for a new build. So just property tax alone is 200€ per month. Plus electricity, water, insurance, maintenance, etc. The outdoor area also needs to be maintained, ice melt, etc. Therefore, I would consider 500€ (at least in the south) without reserves as realistic. It gets quickly more expensive with larger houses.

Now listed and among other things increased the advance payment for the heat pump because of last winter.
- Electricity advance payment €149 per month (everything else also calculated monthly)
- Building insurance €40
- Household insurance €7
- Internet €44
- Property tax no idea, nothing came due to Corona and delayed submission
- Municipal utilities €40
- Garbage no idea
- Chimney €8
Should be complete with 2 unknown variables.

Thus estimated with property tax more than €400 without reserves. Recently, a bill of about €600 came from the municipality because we are required to help develop the other small villages. Such a thing is not included in the monthly list.

So anyone who thinks they pay as much additional costs as in the rental apartment is very wrong.
