Oh, if I understood you correctly, you only have the basement wall, which is basically in contact with the earth (on the slope side) made of concrete with insulation on both sides. The rest of the basement was built from solid wood (I assume from log wood). Am I right? Are the interior walls and the ceiling also made of wood?

The first company also doesn’t understand when I make big eyes when we talk about internal insulation. Apparently, it is common practice nowadays. Or is it because of the 13 m slope for you?

No, the slope height has nothing to do with the insulation. Avoidance of condensation was the reason. Interior walls and ceiling are made of wood. All covered. I don’t like the wooden box look.

Sounds interesting. When did you build? Have you noticed any advantages/disadvantages compared to a concrete ceiling - exterior/interior walls?

Move-in was in 2018 I cannot notice any difference. Neither is a wall colder nor do you notice anything in the rooms, although the rooms have at most 1 concrete wall. Regarding the ceiling, there is not just one ceiling and one ceiling structure. Don't twist it, if the general contractor doesn't do it that way, then just accept it. There is probably a reason. Also, don't resist concrete. The ecological, pollutant-free house does not exist.

I understand, the argument seems plausible to me when constructing a wooden ceiling in the basement. In that case, I would either follow the company’s suggestion or alternatively consider a clear two-part division in the construction:

All basement walls including the basement ceiling massive, from there upward a wooden house. But of course, that is a change that should be well thought out and might even require a different construction company. I completely agree with haydee — it’s better not to “impose” anything on the construction company regarding such fundamental points.

The forum certainly cannot provide meaningful decision-making help, at most it can offer food for thought. There are too many factors involved that are unknown to the forum.

Does the wooden ceiling have worse sound insulation than the concrete ceiling? Or does it not matter if the insulation is the same?

I really have nothing against concrete. I just want the best solution for the best price. But I don't want to be disappointed after 30 years if the wooden wall has to be repaired or something similar.
