Interim question:
Do you really want to use the entrance door on the upper floor as it is?
And how is the access to the rooftop terrace intended?

Currently, there is not enough workspace available.

Therefore, my suggestion is a long work line under the windows..

Well, your part is shaped in the north by sharp angles, almost a slanting wall. You have the choice to highlight exactly that, which also supports individuality.

The platform can stay. The step from the living room is the trigger here, not the staircase itself.

I would never suggest it either, since it isn’t even allowed ;)

It would be allowed. There is an exit to the stairwell above. That means an escape route is available.

Hm, I can imagine the problem with too little workspace. Although theoretically, you could make the island a bit longer. Now the question is whether it really has to work 100% without a backup kitchen..

Turning the island 90 degrees and placing the work row under the windows would be an option, yes. But to ask stupidly, isn’t that too much workspace combined with a large freestanding island, or can you never have enough anyway..?

Showcasing the slanted wall, interesting thought. Honestly, the wall on the plan looks extremely slanted to me. I have stood in front of it quite often and it’s not noticeably slanted. Maybe photographing the plan caused some distortion, I will check again.

I don’t fully understand your suggestion about the stairs. At what height would the landing be and where would I come out at the top?

Yes, that's right. There is another staircase in the hallway.
But my question was also whether this door could simply be incorporated into a room. However, that does not change the escape route.

Exactly as it is now :)
