Hi Joachim,

The wood stove and ventilation system are DIBT certified for room air-independent operation. The ventilation system has a "fire booster" and a fireplace function. We also use those.

Therefore, our BSFM refrained from requiring a differential pressure monitor.

However, there are no other tricks..... it depends on the BSFM. At his discretion, he could have required it as well.

Best regards, Thorsten

Hello Joachim,

there is no "trick" as you write, there are clear standards and rules for this. One can only differentiate between room air-dependent appliances. For these, a suitable shutdown must be provided, whereby I always recommend a pressure switch to my customers and not a temperature switch. The latter would result in the ventilation system always being turned off when the stove is fired up (what do you do then in winter). The second is a room air-independent appliance. This requires no further

Best regards

And that is wrong again, because even room air-independent appliances require a pressure monitor...

Only appropriately certified fireplaces with tight doors up to xx Pascal do not require monitors - unless the chimney sweep still wants one, then it must be installed anyway. You can't do anything about it...

A pressure monitor costs about 400 euros - it's annoying, but not a disaster. We had to install one too...

PS: I obtained a current DIBT certificate from the manufacturer for my wood stove before the BSFM came for the inspection. The stove met the necessary requirements.

In addition, I naturally had all the documents for the ventilation system and the chimney ready, or had already sent them to the BSFM in advance.

Accordingly, certified wood stoves: One must inquire before purchasing.

One point of criticism during the inspection was that the supply air connection to the chimney was not okay. I had this rectified immediately (sealed with silicone).

The BSFM did require something like a proof of expertise from me on basic points during the inspection. I thought that was okay.

However, in my circle of friends and acquaintances, I do experience that despite DIBT certified components, a differential pressure monitor is still required.

Therefore, I can only recommend laying a corresponding 5-core cable to the utility room during the shell construction phase so that the installation of such a device can be done quite easily if necessary.

Best regards
Thorsten

It would be much better to involve the district chimney sweep right from the start, that way you are completely on the safe side and don’t have to prepare anything.

I am even allowed to install the fireplace myself if I document it with photos.

Fireplaces with approval are not exactly common - we wanted a 3-sided fireplace and so far I haven’t found a single model that received a certificate. Usually, only the stoves had something like that...

You are right.

By the way, I had also involved the BSFM from the very beginning (shell construction).

That was definitely helpful. At that time, he was just putting off the issue of the pressure switch a bit and kept me in suspense......My chimney builder and the BSFM also worked together / exchanged information.

Even wood stoves with the appropriate DIBT certificate are not exactly common.

It is even more difficult with real fireplaces.

This is not an easy issue. Certainly not. It belongs in expert hands, not in the building supply store.

Best regards, Thorsten
