Take your time. Everything turns out differently anyway than you think.
Who knows what kind of job will be offered to you where.
Maybe the dogs won’t even be around then (sorry), and your situation will be completely different.
Maybe your life or your attitude will change at 30?
What is certain is that after the training, i.e. once you have a permanent employment or a new job, you can change drastically.

And that you have to know at 25 whether you want children or not, I consider a farce ;)

But you can! I find it a bit cheeky to deny everyone the possibility of knowing at 25 what they want in life. Personally, I wasn’t among those, but I do know people who very early on knew exactly what they wanted (or didn’t want) and already set the course accordingly. And they are not unhappier today than those little flyers like me, who didn’t want to commit until well into their mid-thirties. And I also don’t get the impression that they feel like they missed out on anything.

So if I’m sure, why not?

Anja, before you start planning, think again about the two semi-detached houses. If I understand correctly, one semi-detached house is supposed to be for the parents. However, I don’t necessarily think a semi-detached house with corresponding stairs is the best solution for a retirement home. If the property is big enough for, for example, a single-family house with a (possibly connected), smaller bungalow for the parents (which could later be rented out or used as a guest bungalow), I would consider that. Just a thought.

The problem I really see is more in the financing, even if there will be a permanent job in half a year. If you want to pull this off in the next few years, then start saving.

Thank you for the tip about the bungalow! The semi-detached house for my parents is planned so that there will be both a full bathroom and a potential bedroom on the ground floor. I had also considered the bungalow, but my parents want a roof terrace on top of the double garage and I don’t know how I would provide access to it if there were no upper floor. But maybe there are ideas here ... ?

You could have a staircase built to the roof terrace. A small semi-detached house with a bedroom and a full bathroom on the ground floor will hardly be feasible in terms of space.

Exactly: a modern flat-roof bungalow and a roof terrace on top. You can use it while you are still mobile, but you don't have to if it is no longer possible. I also believe that the area of a semi-detached house on the ground floor is not necessarily enough for a complete residential unit. I would generally plan differently.

I happen to have a semi-detached house with almost 100sqm, and for a barrier-free, fully functional bathroom and a bedroom, the living room would have to go. I like the idea of the bungalow including a roof terrace.

By the way, for children or for financing, you don’t need many years of professional experience.

Best regards
