Why? Good question... mainly because my wife didn't want any pipes. But I have to admit, I don't find the decentralized system so dramatic now. You have to control a central system too... or just automatic regulation, which also exists for decentralized ones.

A central system does not need to be controlled - it runs automatically. You also don’t hear it - if it is set correctly - and of course no outside noise either.

There are of course situations where you want to run it higher - for that we have installed the button" in every WC & kitchen .

And honestly, because your wife didn’t want pipes? I would have told her something about that

You do not need to control a decentralized system if it is well planned. It runs constantly in the living areas, and you can only switch to a higher setting when needed. In the bathrooms, there is an interval control (every 2 or 4 hours) as well as a button with a 15 or 30-minute overrun.
A central system over 3 floors was too expensive for us, and there is also no long-term experience with deposits/contamination in the pipe systems.

Of course, there is long-term experience - just google it. When installed correctly, after 10 years you won’t find anything in the pipes. And of course, there are cleaning sets that can be pulled through the pipes. Expensive is relative - what does a decentralized system for three floors including core drilling (!!) cost? What do the fans consume in total electricity or what is the average power consumption?

10 years is not a long time in house construction. What did you pay for your central HRV and what was the house size?

Power consumption is the same as central systems - I had checked / calculated that once. If I could build again, I would definitely think it over again - but as I said, I don't find it that bad now. I also almost assume that there is still some construction moisture in the house at the beginning and that the normal climate has not yet been reached. Maybe 1 or 2 will be enough permanently then.
