Pleasant Sunday,

I would like to build a terrace made of WPC decking boards on an existing exposed concrete slab terrace (at least 30 years old and stable). The plan is to place the substructure of the WPC terrace on a pedestal support, as the slabs are not perfectly level and I can achieve the desired slope by adjusting the supports.

Perhaps I could also lay rubber pads between the WPC and the pedestal supports to compensate for the unevenness of the slabs.

Do you think this is feasible?

Thank you very much in advance.

Take slightly damp screed concrete and fill it into freezer bags. Then align the substructure on these bags (with a wooden substructure, be sure to place the rubber pads underneath so the wood does not sit in water). This way you have the possibility to align everything perfectly straight.

P.S. Garden landscapers also like to do it this way. It also saves a huge amount of money.

Take the pedestal supports with rubber pads, that fits with [Waschbeton] as the base :)

That works great. I did it similarly, except that I first had to install exposed aggregate concrete slabs in mortar on the existing floor. For a terrace about 4x4m in size, I installed about 70 pieces. I believe fewer would have been okay too (each support bearing 2 kilonewtons), but I "snapped up" about 100 as a lot on eBay Classifieds at a unit price of just over one euro instead of about 4€. Great for leveling the height. The main part of the work was mixing mortar and laying the slabs. That part is even omitted for you, the rest is child's play ;) Slight unevenness is compensated by the pedestals themselves. I did lay the slabs in water as best as I could quickly, but it wasn’t perfect. I also think that rubber pads are not as important with WPC because of the plastic content?
