Hello,
we are considering having the windows of our 80s house renovated by a specialized company. They are wooden windows, double-glazed. You can really feel drafts on many of them. The company is apparently specialized in this kind of work. They come with a workshop delivery van, unhinge the windows, mill a groove all around, and install an additional seal there. Afterwards, the windows are rehung and adjusted so that they close well again, especially where something was warped, and if necessary, defective fittings are replaced as needed.
So far, I assumed that funding from BAFA (Efficient Buildings - Funding of Individual Measures) would be possible for this. I even inquired via the contact form and was confirmed that windows as part of the building envelope are eligible for funding. Of course, this is not a binding statement.
Now the company was here for a cost estimate and they say they have a lot of experience and that there is definitely no funding for this. Funding would only be available if you replace the panes, which they, like me, do not consider economical. For funding, you would mainly have to provide figures on how much energy is saved, and this is not possible because every window is different, etc.
I have not yet contacted an energy consultant.
Does anyone perhaps know more about this?
The cost estimate amounts to about €6,800. Whether I can save that much again, so whether this is economical, is another question which I may raise in a separate thread.
Best regards,
Tobi
