Hello dear builders!

We are currently in the planning phase for the expansion (Aufstockung) of my husband's parents' house, and now we are faced with the question of which windows and from whom... Unfortunately, this is an area where neither my husband nor I have any knowledge... Of course, we will get informed before the purchase, but I hope for a bit of support from experienced people.

I would like to know which windows you chose and why? How many chambers? I think triple glazing is a must anyway. Which manufacturers can you recommend (preferably from Ö)?
We don't want to incur excessive costs, but I understand that windows are not cheap, and they are supposed to last for decades. The price-performance ratio is important.

What else do I need to pay attention to when choosing? And what should I include right away in the request for a quote?

Yes, that's a lot of questions...
Thanks already for your answers!! Best regards

Windows are mostly manufactured by small and medium-sized companies. The profiles they use are industrial products. Large manufacturers, Drutex from Gdansk, for example, also produce the profiles themselves. By the way, Drutex makes good windows. If they have a representative near you, they will surely make you a good offer. Otherwise, in my opinion, the profiles from Rehau, Kömmerling, Verka, etc. are all fine. The local manufacturer just has to glue them together properly, which is usually done with MS Polymer and becomes very durable. Triple glazing is not a must, but today it is mostly standard. Double glazing works as well. We have Verka profiles, and the installation team that made them came from Szczecin. The labor cost savings made their windows at least 2000,- cheaper than Rehau profiles from the local carpenter. With tax, almost 2400,-. All windows are fine. Karsten

Whether double or triple, this should be coordinated with the exterior walls.

Best regards in brief

NO!
Heating and ventilating should only be done appropriately. Then you can install windows with Ug 0.5 in a cardboard box without any problems.
Enough OT, I think Karsten has said everything

Great, thanks guys! It has already helped me quite a bit! Unfortunately, all of these companies are from Germany, Karsten... But from what I've seen, Drutex actually has a distribution in [Ö], I'll inquire there as well. Thanks for the tips! Best regards

Well, that's just how it is. We’re not so good at summits, but football, window profiles, currywurst fries. Karsten
