You read this here often because I write a lot here. Other users rarely express my credo with comparable vehemence: "take the building material your installer masters in their sleep (or, if another building material is immovably fixed for you, then find the suitable installer for it)". But one should not be misled by my presence here into thinking that one cannot be happy with other approaches – even with garage intermediate doors (just not as someone without a basement paired with a semi-detached house sparring partner with a shared basement).

To exaggerate, this would lead to the conclusion that everything was done correctly here. The window installers "of the old school" foamed because that is the building material they master in their sleep.

Installers of the old school still know how to install properly, and certainly do not belong to the spray cream faction.

Basically window installation for nutrition-conscious people = the real old school.

I'm curious how it will be for us. But €7000 for a front door is definitely not cheap. Ours will cost about half of that, is made of solid wood, but has no fingerprint sensor. I wouldn't just go with "oh, we'll manage" during installation, but rather -> what does the manufacturer want/recommend? Although I would definitely have it installed given the amount...

Have Gaulhofer provide an installation recommendation for the front door. You give this to your husband and your father-in-law. Claim that improper installation could lead to damage and warranty refusal. That would be a factual argument with technical basis. If Gaulhofer has no objections to the wood, I would not raise any concerns either. I cannot assess the window installation based on the description and without pictures. Non-compliant does not automatically mean poor.
