No, the problem is different.
In 1980, the pension subsidy from the federal budget was 0 billion DM... today it is just under 140 billion EUR, with a steep upward trend.
The 140 billion are missing, especially since we have massively gone into debt for social benefits and on top of the 140 billion, about 40 to 50 billion go to interest.
When I was born, the debt of the FRG, back then still West Germany, was around 250 billion EUR converted.
Today it is officially 2,500 billion EUR, in reality much more, because all the special funds are not included and also the obligations that have been entered into. Lindner once calculated that, and it came to 4 or 5 trillion.
The core of the problem is therefore that almost 50% of the federal budget can no longer be invested because it is used to pay interest and finance the pensioners. Pensioners who often do not live as precariously as it is often portrayed... the grandma who has to collect deposit bottles, she exists. But she is a small minority.
And our bridges are rotting away under our cars... it is only a matter of time before one collapses during the evening rush hour.
