Which wood for my treehouse?

I want to build a treehouse in our garden together with my son. Do you have any advice on what to consider and which wood to use for it?

Would you like to address the choice of price in addition to the choice of wood? The question of the varieties will probably be decided there.

Robinia is great. But it is advisable to organize the wood around this time (before harvesting), as it is not always available at a reasonable price. Most of it comes to us from Eastern Europe.

I would choose spruce/fir or pine for a treehouse. There are certainly more resistant woods, but such a children's treehouse is not meant to last for centuries. The important thing is constructive wood protection. In short: The construction must be designed so that water is quickly drained away from the wood. No horizontal surfaces, cover end grain, no contact with the ground, etc. Then such a construction will last many years. For beautification and to prevent graying, an open-pored glaze.

I would probably choose spruce. It is relatively inexpensive and weather-resistant. Pine and larch are not as stable as spruce. Do not work on the poles, only debark them, generally do not use squared timber for load-bearing parts. Although I have not yet built a treehouse, I have built many hunting stands.
