Without knowing the price difference between the two plots, I would take the southern one. It is better oriented, more rectangular in shape, and therefore easier to use. I would avoid the forest. Shade, work, critters, strangers in the bushes. Unfortunately, both plots have a slope, but the north/west boundary of the forest plot will probably need to be retained - expensive. I would be more optimistic about that with the southern plot.

Forest or nature is beautiful. But living there also has disadvantages. My first house was directly next to a [nature reserve]. That was great. No development, view, right in the green. However, we constantly had problems with rodents and pests. That was not so great. Just as another aspect for decision-making.

Forget about the field in the west: in the east, you have a residential area; they now have your residential area in the west on their field. I expect the next residential area to follow in a somewhat shorter time interval if the regional employment rate does not decline.

However, the private one has a slightly steeper slope than the other: the forest property slopes south - one could also say: both rise away from the street, the one with the forest more favorably.

We only had those when the stupid landlady shut the hedge to prevent her dachshund from escaping - then the cats on the other side could no longer get into the garden either, and word got around among the mice.

By the way, trees are excellent wind diffusers - not only against stormy winds, but also for dispersing trade winds.

Can you tell me why the slope from the forest to the street is more favorable? We want to build without a basement and on one level; earthworks are necessary for both plots.

As 11ant already says, the forest plot slopes to the south. That’s why your terrace would be a bit higher, and no one can look onto your plate from the street. And honestly, how many cars drive through the residential area all the time... Occasionally one, I think, and then another one, a moped, and again a car... And through the forest, you have peace on that side, basically first of all unbuildable... Also cool in summer and especially wind-protected, ideal in autumn for mushroom picking, and regarding the animals, I wouldn’t worry too much... Hundreds of raccoons raid the trash cans in big cities at night. You might occasionally have a deer standing in your garden that eats your roses and to thank you even poops in the flower beds, but I think that’s something you can live with. So personally, I would build by the forest....
