But when switching, if it jumps to another access point, you have a connection drop—that's the advantage of mesh compared to regular access points. Or am I seeing that wrong?

You are wrong. With Unify, you have central control with zero handoff. I have 17 access points. I needed them because my house is made of concrete. Certainly, my network is not a standard, but rather plan with 2 access points per floor. So office, living room... whether you only have 2.4 GHz in the toilet doesn't matter. The more devices there are on the WiFi, the slower it gets. You don't have that problem with LAN.

Yes, you are seeing it wrong. In addition to rick2018's explanations, it should be added that this handover or roaming or steering by the network is only a hopeful wish. Ultimately, the end device decides when it switches. You can influence this somewhat with a good overall system design, but not more. This has nothing to do with mesh anyway.

: I strongly recommend you find someone to set this up for you. Otherwise, you won't be happy or you should stick to a simple system like Orbi, Fritz, or similar.

I can highly recommend UniFi, it works wonderfully here and the access points (here a Nano HD above my fridge) are absolutely inconspicuous :)

Nonohd actually belongs on the ceiling. The radiation angle is optimized for that. There are also design stickers so that it is inconspicuous. With a suspended ceiling, a recessed FlexHD would also be an option. You usually have plate valves, smoke detectors… on the ceiling anyway. An access point does not stand out there.

In our small 65m2 apartment, it hangs very centrally and works well, but in the house they will be installed differently ;) Either way, I think they are nicely unobtrusive :D
