In 9 out of 10 cases, my boomer parents and the boomer parents of my friends all have really lousy tools. Always the cheapest junk from Aldi specials. Unfortunately, this was often passed down to their children as well. Nowadays, I take my own stuff everywhere.

It's due to the drill bit if it wanders. If there was something wrong with the drill chuck, the drill bit would wobble when running idle. You have to check anyway whether the drill bit rotates round. That's why the four-edged drill bit is used to prevent wandering.
