Hello,
Unfortunately, the jack of all trades does not exist. I think you should also compare effort and result.
A good double casement window costs about TEUR 1, a dormer of reasonable size starts at about TEUR 3.5.
That is possible, but not "that" simple. It would either have to be at the expense of remodeling the entrance area and thus losing children's room "2," or you would have to forego the guest WC as well as the pantry. In the latter case, the staircase could even be realized from the windbreak side.
Rhenish greetings
What, however, was never up for discussion before the attic conversion – so maybe not that important. But it would mean losing a lot of living space "just" for a staircase.

The possible problem with the roof pitch could be solved with a dormer. That would be additional costs, but anyway, light has to be brought into the upper hallway, and with today's prices for good Velux windows, a dormer solution might not be that much more expensive?!? However, I haven't really looked into it yet.

I find it so unfortunate that the staircase can't just be accommodated in the (yes, so big) hallway.
