I know many people whose hearts regularly sink when they receive condescending and unfriendly official letters filled with threats. In my view, this kind of condescension is harmful to society. For me, it causes civil disobedience.
Moreover, these letters do not represent the people in the offices, who in conversation, from my experience, are almost always very helpful, clear, and approachable. Many formulations are also an imposition to them. What kind of image is being built there?
Our municipality writes really good letters. They get (almost) everything from me.

It's strange for me too. Received the notice 2020, filled everything out and also received feedback/ calculation. Today (as last year) 12€ property tax was debited. In July we will have been in the house for 2 years. Don't want to know, hear or see anything or ask. :cool:

We have four years. ;) So if completion is, for example, on 12.08.19, then the relevant key date would be 01.01.20. So there is time until 31.12.2024. How quickly a tax office acts depends largely on which federal state you live in. It is rumored that various federal states in recent decades have had little interest in having parts of the tax officials they themselves pay collect a tax that then flows into the financial equalization between the states. Accordingly, the valuation offices were staffed (or not), and accordingly there is a backlog in many offices regarding the standard valuation.

I calculated the land tax online using the values. About €160. Do the calculators calculate correctly? I had estimated much more... but it's also quite far out, and in 1936 (or whenever the values were established) Porsche was probably still insignificant for the region :D

And when will the first bill come? Only after 01.01.22?

The multiplier (Hebesatz) of your municipality is surely available online; if you calculate it correctly on the property tax assessment amount, it should be accurate.

The first bill will probably come only next year.

I know that. Just ask my husband, who moved here from Australia. Both the German bureaucracy as a whole and the stubborn unreadability of German official letters still bring him to the brink of despair even after 3 years in Germany. I take care of all the paperwork. I also always try to pick him up and explain what I understand myself. But when it came to the property tax assessment amount and the conversion to some values from the 70s, I was at a loss as to how to explain it to him without it sounding crazy.
