Hello everyone,

I am getting a reinforced concrete staircase on which we will have wooden boards as steps. My wife wants the front edge in white. I think it looks nice aesthetically, but I only think about what happens if someone hits it with their shoe?! Is there a special paint that can be cleaned easily afterwards?
Does anyone have tips?

Hello Perlenmann, your pearl and you will probably have to clean more often. You probably mean the risers, right? Since they are made of concrete, from my layman's perspective, concrete paint (available in many colors) is suitable. It is elastic, waterproof, washable, etc. Now just settle the color with the pearl. No, seriously – ask a painter and varnisher. Occasionally, (good) hardware stores have color experts who know their craft. Have fun and success with the construction.

Well, that is actually helpful

But I have a wife who doesn’t want tiles because then you have grout on the stairs (our tiles are max. 90cm wide) and she doesn’t want that. And even if I were to choose tiles, it looks much nicer if the front edge has no tile, meaning it’s white. (According to our taste)
And a wooden staircase is also not an option!
But I will probably go for white laminated marble parquet

Hi!

Laminate parquet.........now it’s getting a bit confusing. Why have so few (approx. 0) used such a construction until now!?

Because plastic looks cheap? Because it is very sensitive to dirt? Because you can’t get a 1 m longitudinal cut cleanly with DIY tools? Because the cut edges absorb moisture and swell? Because the invisible fastening isn’t exactly easy either?

If it absolutely has to be white: just use a white tile of 120 cm as the "Stirnseite" or natural stone – but that would probably be more expensive. Or this pressed marble powder (artificial stone) from which window sills are also made.

Regards,
Tom.

Oh Tomtom, you didn't understand Perle's joke (laminated white marble parquet)

The man of Perle is stuck in the dilemma that Perle wants white risers. That point seems non-negotiable
The wooden covering of the steps is obviously also decided, there should be no joints, so it's getting tight.

Perle, just use white painted wood for the riser
