For the final construction cleaning, I have now hired someone. The tip from the forum here to search on MyHammer was very good, I hope they deliver what they promise.
Tomorrow is the handover. I have left the windows in the condition they were in.
I am curious how it will turn out. Not everything is really finished. We don’t have the photovoltaic system yet (installation starts tomorrow, but it won’t be operational until Friday). And the final installation and briefing for the ventilation system was supposed to take place today, but the technician did not show up.
Our history with the company so far:
- The technician was here some time ago, complained that the pipe for the heating was in the way and that he did not want to bend it because he was afraid of damaging something. He noted this in the file, but otherwise did nothing further.
- We get an appointment for the briefing on the ventilation system and the final installation.
- We and a customer service employee are on site. The employee notices that the installation of the pipes should have already taken place at that time and calls his headquarters. He finds out what his predecessor noted in the file.
- He makes a new appointment with me for the final installation and briefing (today).
- He installs the ventilation grilles and apparently hits my car while leaving (in doubt, giving the benefit of the doubt to the defendant, probably without realizing it).
- Today: No one shows up for the appointment.
- I have no phone number for them, so I call my site manager.
- My site manager calls around the technicians and finds out after half an hour: The technician called in sick. Apparently, this was communicated by email to my site manager (who has not been back in the office since), and they did not deem it necessary to call him or me.
I briefly considered postponing the handover, but what would that get me?
I would have to cancel the inspector at short notice, and above all, I can no longer postpone my kitchen delivery (the day after tomorrow). That would only result in the kitchen being installed while every construction worker still has a key to the house. Not a good feeling.
My washbasins are installed, the wallpaper is on the wall and painted, and with every construction worker going in and out again, something that previously looked final and good ends up looking terrible afterward. Foam insulation on the wallpaper, some kind of plaster or adhesive stuff in the natural stone sink without even rinsing it with water, and so on and so forth.
I would prefer the stuff to be finished and the craftsmen to stop coming and going so that the painter can correct things one more time and then we have peace. But what can I do?
