You must know what kind of house it will be...

Hello,

Then a community of owners is established and this community decides together or according to majority ratios (depending on the internally adopted statutes) which insurance is required where and for what "and" whether an external administrator should be appointed. You cannot just go your own way here; it always affects all owners ;)

Rhenish regards

What if they have taken out too expensive insurances?

"What if" - just wait; nobody has money to give away. Definitely not new homeowners ;) You can’t just be "a little bit" part of the owners’ association or always swim against the tide (see your other thread). Either you accept the offer with all its pros and cons or you stay away from the owners’ association. But then do so with full consequence! Greetings from the Rhineland

Then you may pay your share of the ancillary costs and can submit an application for changing the insurance at the next owners' meeting (to be submitted in advance via the administrator). I would recommend a careful reading of the [Wohnungseigentumsgesetz (WEG)] - there you can see exactly what you as a co-owner of a [WEG] are allowed or not allowed to do.
