What impact does it have on the exterior appearance?

Hello everyone,

I'll jump right in because I tend to be long-winded otherwise Here is an older draft of our house

On the 1st floor, where the windows are no longer floor-to-ceiling, there will be two rooms. Our construction manager has now suggested that the ceiling of the ground floor be extended by 10cm, thus gaining 10cm in the rooms on the 1st floor. He says that due to the insulation and our S-shape, this should have no effect on the appearance. Here are the 50 scale plans before and after:

Before:

After:

As I said, our construction manager believes it would have no impact. The protrusion is 24cm, but that would make the structural engineering more complex and with 10cm that would be no problem. Well, he said that if you go out onto the terrace, the top of the window would simply be 10cm lower. That would be okay. But I also think that the recess/projection on the 1st floor would be less.

I just wanted to get a "second opinion" here. What do you think? A good suggestion to gain another 10cm without much effort, or are there disadvantages?

Best regards
CK

Then let the link ramble instead of you:

On average, in my opinion, your question would be easier to assess than in the floor plan.

Of course, the house looks different then. Whether better or worse is a matter of taste. That something like this would "not be noticed" can be interpreted in different ways: Some do not notice whether a house is yellow or brown, that is certainly true. The owners do notice it, if only because they made the decision.

I find the older, indented version better. This is certainly only about avoiding all problematic areas regarding sealing.

If I were you, I would be mainly interested in how much more it will cost me for the statics, insulation, and plaster, and how much more prone to errors it will become.

If I understand you correctly, the walls currently align vertically and the upper floor would protrude 10 cm beyond the ground floor due to the change. For half a square meter more space in the children's room, I find that too elaborate if that is supposed to be the only added value!

I understand it the same way as Maria and wonder: why is the site manager making the proposal? Really just because of 10cm? And what is this going to cost? This can't be done just for Nüppes?
