Since this is apparently a "new" feeling or now offers possibilities that hadn’t been considered before, I would probably wait first and definitely not build any "typical" standard house as wrote, without it necessarily having to be extravagant. Maybe also initially or even permanently and flexibly rent something really nice, whether a great loft apartment or a special house, etc., basically not what you would usually aim for with a typical family household and a more limited budget. You have financial freedom/security and you are two, that’s exactly how I would want to live in a nice environment. I also don’t know if you should go to too many model home parks; rather I would look for a special building style/design that fits me and my "special" situation. And... a house can be remodeled/adjusted, a mediocre plot of land remains mediocre. Therefore, I would definitely look for a plot of land if building is an issue that I really like, even if it is not ideally located, since kindergarten etc. are eliminated for you. I could also imagine something bigger/special in the countryside, at the edge of the forest or close to the water or something like that, basically not a typical settlement plot! All the much-discussed things here like Kfw etc. I would rather disregard and maybe have something planned by an architect who has references I like. It doesn’t have to be big but absolutely tailored exactly to me and my needs. If you have a nice amount of space on the property, topics like music or guests can find a place in a separate garden building or something like that. What I mean by that is that you might not need the "usual" niceties and can really plan much more freely, which can be more expensive but doesn’t necessarily have to be, since I can well understand your view on financial matters. For example, I think of houses by or , who built special houses with great taste without the many usual techno-gimmicks etc. Therefore, I would really detach myself from the ubiquitous must-have standards at first and calmly find out what could fit me. I like the idea from of the little house with good (to you fitting) architecture. Individually for you, basically.
