Hey guys,
we recently bought a little house. Built in 1959. We renovated it and have been living in it for some time now.
However, we have a problem. We renovated the two bathrooms located above each other and since then there has been an issue with the wastewater. The entire downpipe is new (HT) and in the basement it connects to the still old cast iron pipe. That means the last section including the bend/angle up to the sewer pipe is still old. When we take long showers, the water does not drain properly at this spot. It seems to me that the wastewater is standing there, draining very slowly, and dripping from the connections in the basement. A plumber has already been here who cleaned the entire wastewater pipe. Regarding the dripping, he only said that we would have to replace the last section as well. I planned to do that anyway, but only in the summer (because of digging a shaft etc.)
What worries me the most is that we apparently have no ventilation/air vent for the wastewater pipe. I also didn't see any pipe coming out of the roof (as is usually the case). Was that common back then - 1959? That can’t really be, right?
The gurgling in the shower/sink is not so bad but it is there.
Now I have read a bit about the topic and came across these pipe ventilators (DN50). Would it help if I installed, for example, a pipe ventilator under the kitchen sink and one under the ground-floor shower (connection then in the basement)?
