Hello,
does anyone here know about [Sanitär]? We are supposed to choose washbasins etc. Now we obviously want to save money since the budget is tight – of course. But we are completely overwhelmed by the offer. Besides countless brands, there are also plenty of no-names or own brands from wholesalers, different designs, etc.
One thing is certain, it should be ceramic, we need a shower, bathtub (190x90), and WC. And now? Does anyone maybe have a tip on which brands can be recommended and above all, what the difference in quality is? Or is it just about the design + size? Can you simply take what you like and what fits your budget?

So you don’t build turnkey? Do you want to install the plumbing yourself?

For a bathtub measuring 190 x 90, you’re already at 3 to 4 times the price of a standard tub, assuming it is made of enamel. Apparently, sanitation professionals do not want to install anything other than enamel. If there is incorrect information here, I would appreciate a message from you

I have noticed that it really comes down to design and brand, especially when it comes to the washbasin + mirror + cabinet. We are going with the budget option: a countertop basin from the construction service description, a nice kitchen countertop from wall to wall, a simple mirror installed on a pre-wall with fluorescent lighting behind it, and below that a rolling cabinet (or something similar, possibly all in the same design from Ikea), saving about 1000-2000 euros. Toilets are available in standard versions and with a water-repellent effect on the inside, now also without this water channel. Who needs that? It costs many times more...

Nice and timeless or current designs are also available cheaply!

Hi ypg,
we have a contract where we get a turnkey house. There is a budget for sanitary fittings. This usually includes a brand, but then the cheapest equipment. That's okay, I think. If we spend less, we get a refund; if it's more, we have to pay the difference.

And now we can go out and see what we like. We can manage that, but if you have no plan, you naturally wonder where the huge differences in prices come from and whether that means anything. I'm considering just taking the dealer's house brand and that's it. But of course, I would be really annoyed if after 5 years the sinks are all scratched or something similar, just because I didn't choose a brand.

PS: We need the bathtub that big, we already planned for that. My husband has broad shoulders.

What I would not skimp on are the following points:
-The toilet should be easy to clean, so preferably with as few corners and edges as possible, etc...

-Shower tray and bathtub made of steel enamel and not acrylic (there are different opinions on this, but a steel enamel tub still looks good after 20 years if properly maintained...)

-Shower tray with an anti-slip coating (even if it’s sometimes expensive... I pay about €250 extra for the coating) but without it simply doesn’t work or is too unsafe, then you start sticking all kinds of adhesive tapes and rubber mats inside which have to be replaced every few years and in the end cost more than €250...

-I can also recommend the "gloss coatings"... my parents bought their tub with it 20 years ago and it looks like new (except for color and design *g) and on average the extra cost is about €40 per part, so about €200 for the whole bathroom in total.

Where, in my opinion, you can save is on the "furniture"
A washbasin set on furniture with drawers, etc., looks stylish, but the furniture usually costs a fortune... better to have 1-2 bathroom cabinets from IKEA on the wall and a rolling container that can be replaced in 5-10 years for little money... So simply just the washbasin on the wall and nothing with special bathroom furniture...
