If it doesn’t work in the shop, "Kleinanzeigen" is your friend ;)

Hello everyone,

interesting topic – I’m jumping right in here – even if in a different context (didn’t want to start a new topic). We are currently planning our e-topics and E-mobility was also one of them. Initially, our plan was, as described here by the HTR, to have a high-voltage cable laid directly into the garage. However, I read online that under certain circumstances (the more electric cars are put into operation) the costs for building insurance could increase (because of increased fire risk). Are there perhaps people here who can offer deeper insight on this? Is such a scenario realistic?

Otherwise, I plan to install the wallbox outside with some distance from the house to be on the safe side regarding this (which would also be advantageous for the cable routing). How durable is a wallbox when installed outside?

Thanks for your input

Best regards
Roman

No, in my opinion, that's nonsense. I would definitely plan to install it in the garage. You still have the option to simply install a normal 16A socket, just as everyone did 20 years ago. There are plenty of wallboxes that you can simply plug in (Juice Booster, e-go) and don’t have to hardwire. Then the insurance issue wouldn't even be a topic anymore, since you only have to report permanently installed systems :).

Why are you building a garage if you want to charge the car outdoors?

When planning the [WB], don't forget the network connection. Depending on the [WB], via WLAN or LAN.

Or via Modbus RTU/RS485. So it is best to also provide cables for that.

He probably means that the Tesla wallbox supports Wi-Fi and does not need a LAN cable. Of course, you can also operate the wallbox without Wi-Fi, but then you have fewer options to network and control it.
